4 months have passed since I came to Japan. In the very beginning, as well as now, I am very happy that I came to Fukushima.Because of all the help I got , all the worries I had before coming here disappeared, and I was able to simply enjoy the start of my new life here.
Especially in the beginning, when everything was so new, even the regular everyday life was really fun. Like for example commuting to school with a bus, which might be a given to most japanese people, was something I had never imagined myself doing before coming here.
In October we took part in the International festival in Iizaka. Carrying the mikoshi with the other exchange students was a thing that I probably won't ever be able to forget.
In November we got the chance to wear a kimono and experience the traditional tea ceremony. In such a short time we were able to experience a lot of japanese cultural events.
In December I went to my favorite band's concert. Since this band doesn't do any concerts overseas, it was a live that I would not have been able to here anywhere else.
During the japanese New yearI tried making mochi. And on the 1st of January we went to Inari shrine, where I also bought an omikuji.
I have already traveled to a few places in Fukuhima prefecture, but want to travel some more from now on. I went to see the Tsuruga castle in Aizu, which has a very rich history. I also went on an excursion to the famous Fukushima daiichi nuclear power plant. I had a lot of opportunities to learn many new things since coming here. In fall, when the leaves started to change, we went on a hike to mount Ryouzen, where I saw a monkey. It was my first time to see a monkey in the wild.
But it's not just Fukushima as a prefecture, even just Fukushima city has many things to offer. Even by just going for a walk you can find many new things.
It also has a lot of different events, be it only for foreigners, or events where anyone can take part in.
But for me, the best thing about Fukushima is it's people. It doesn't matter where you go, if you have some trouble there will definitely be someone who will be ready to help you.
I have also come to love going to university. The classes are fun and I joined a circle. I can do sports after classes, which is something I am not able to do back home. I also like studying at the library. If I finish all my homework and studies there, I can just enjoy my free time after coming home and hang out with friends. This has helped me learn more japanese but also english and many other things in regard to Japan.
Because I was able to become friends not only with the other exchange students, but also the japanese students, I am really enjoying every day here. The only problem I have here is that time is passing too quickly.
