福島での交換留学中、私は大学のイベントや個人の旅行に参加し、多くの経験を積みました。
まず、12月31日から1月3日まで北海道で新年を迎え、冬の祭りや地元の料理を楽しみました。
1月27日には栃木への研修旅行で、足利フラワーパークと日光東照宮を訪れ、日本の歴史と自然の美しさに触れました。
2月16日には「Tea & Things」の最終発表がありました。地元企業と高校生と協力して福島のお茶ブレンドを作り、国際市場に販売するプロジェクトに取り組みました。このプロジェクトは大成功でした。
引き続き「Tea & Things」プロジェクトに参加し、川内での地元のお祭りでお茶を売ったり、あぶくま洞でラベンダーを摘んだりしました。
個人的な経験としては、2月9日から11日まで大内宿の雪まつりに参加し、会津若松を訪れました。ここで初めてネギそばや馬肉を食べました。2月21日から25日まで、友人二人と東北旅行に出かけました。5日間の東北JRパスを利用して、福島から静岡、伊東のカピバラ温泉、盛岡の美しい湖、会津、そして最後に山形の雪景色の山寺を訪れました。
3月28日には、お世話になったマクマイケル先生の送別会があり、彼の貢献に感謝しました。
桜の季節には、4月6日に友人と一緒に福島の花見山を訪れました。4月13日には三春にある千年のしだれ桜を見に行き、その美しさに感動しました。4月17日には、親切な老婦人二人が会津若松と猪苗代近くの観音寺川に連れて行ってくれ、美しい桜の風景を楽しみました。
4月19日から21日まで東京プライド2024に参加し、国立博物館を訪れ、さいたまの観覧車にも乗りました。
ゴールデンウィークには沖縄に旅行し、第二次世界大戦の博物館を訪れ、美しいビーチでリラックスし、パラセーリングを楽しみました。5月末には、車を借りて相馬野馬追祭りに参加し、馬に乗った侍たちの祭りを観覧しました。先生のおかげで、プレミアムシートで観覧することができました。
さらに、2023年10月からオリオリで働いており、日本語を練習しながらお金を稼ぐ素晴らしい機会となっています。
全体的に、日本での交換留学の経験は非常に豊かで、福島で学ぶ機会に感謝しています。新しい人々と出会い、全く異なる文化を知ることができました。

During my time as an exchange student in Fukushima, I participated in numerous events and trips, both through the university and on my own. I started the year by celebrating New Year's in Hokkaido from December 31st to January 3rd, experiencing the winter festivities and local cuisine. Later in January, on the 27th, I joined a study trip to Tochigi where we visited the Ashikaga Flower Park and the Nikko Tosho-gu, engaging ourselves in Japanese history and natural beauty.
A significant highlight was the Tea & Things Final Presentation on February 16th, where we presented our project of creating a local Fukushima tea blend and trying to sell it internationally. This project was a collaboration with a local company and high school students, and our efforts finished in a successful final presentation.
Continuing my involvement in the Tea and Things project this year, I attended trips to Kawauchi to sell tea at a local festival and picked lavender at Abukuma Cave.
On a personal note, from February 9th to 11th, I attended the snow festival in Ouchi Juku and visited Aizu Wakamatsu, where I tried Negi Soba and horse meat for the first time. From February 21st to 25th, I embarked on a Tohoku trip with two friends, utilizing the 5-day Tohoku JR Pass. We started in Fukushima, visited Shizuoka and the Capybara Onsen in Ito, explored Morioka and its beautiful lake, traveled to Aizu, and finally ventured to Yamagata to admire the snowy peaks of Yamadera.
March 28th marked the farewell party for our favorite teacher, Mr. McMichael, celebrating his contributions to our learning experience.
As the Sakura season began, my friends and I visited Hanamiyama in Fukushima on April 6th. We continued our Sakura adventures on April 13th by traveling to Miharu to see the thousand-year-old weeping Sakura tree, which was incredibly beautiful. On April 17th, we went on another Sakura trip with two kind elderly ladies who drove us to Aizu-Wakamatsu and Kannonji-Kawa near Inawashiro to marvel at the stunning Sakura scenery.
From April 19th to 21st, I attended Tokyo Pride 2024, visited the National History Museum, and enjoyed a ride on the Ferris wheel in Saitama.
During Golden Week, I traveled to Okinawa, where I visited WWII museums, relaxed on beautiful beaches, and went parasailing. At the end of May, we rented a car to attend the Soma Nomaoi Matsuri, a festival featuring samurai on horseback, and thanks to Joost-sensei, we had premium seats for the event.
Additionally, since October 2023, I have been working at OriOri, which has been a fantastic way to earn money and practice my Japanese skills.
Overall, my experiences as an exchange student in Japan have been incredibly enriching, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have study in Fukushima. Meeting new people and getting to know a completely different culture.
